After phonics this week, we noticed a very important component to our sandpit was being delivered by a big lorry in our outdoor area. The sand had finally arrived! The children grabbed their coats and watched a demonstration by the delivery driver of how the crane worked and which buttons they had to press to lift the sand off the lorry. The children noticed that our site manager needed a bit of guidance with staying safe, too. For all his hard work in building our sand pit, we thought he should probably have the first go. We look forward to seeing what imaginative ideas the children come up with when exploring this new area for learning opportunities.
Last term, reception children from across the island had the opportunity take part in a competition to colour in a picture as bright as possible. Amazingly, Mira won the competition which meant that she won a book voucher and 50 high visibility jackets for her peers. Well done to all children that entered, Esplanade were very impressed with all the entries.
