This week we had an animal week so we could consider how to care for them and understand their similarities and differences to other living things including ourselves. We had an amazing selection of animals spend the day with us including Eli's mice, rabbit, African snails, guinea pigs and budgie and Riley's tortoise. We have never had so many visitors. The children really enjoyed talking about their pets during 'Show and Tell', Thank you grown ups, for all the photographs and Tapestry posts to support their discussion.
For our third year running, Rhythm Time will be visiting our shiny new Reception children for their first term at school. A range of musical instruments, scarves, hula hoops and parachutes are just some of the resources the children will be exploring, while also learning how to read musical notes and play their instrument with control. Not only does Rhythm Time support the children's expressive art and musical talents, but we also see huge progress In their listening and attention skills. We look forward to a fun term ahead. To tie in with our celebrations of Roald Dahl's 100th Birthday, Reception have been rummaging around at home to find things that are 100 (or more) years old! We have had some super finds so far including medals, jewellery, coins and a horn. We have also seen photos of a 100 year old tortoise, who is even older than Esio Trot! We can't wait to see what else the children and their families find. |
