On Friday 17th June, the whole school took part in Empty Classroom Day. This is a national initiative to promote more outdoor learning opportunities for children. Although Reception have continual access to outdoor learning, we still thoroughly enjoyed a whole day promoting outdoor learning and play. We began with a treasure hunt, finding all sorts of interesting objects in the outdoor environment. We used these to make pictures through a process called transient art. We also went on a scavenger hunt and identified and collected leaves to complete leaf rubbings. Finally we had an outdoor music lesson using the boom whackers, which lead to some very interesting games of follow the leader!
